I wanted a place to post our progress on our cleanup project in our backyard. I figured this was as good as any.
The Story ....
Our backyard has got junk all over it. It is really a nice sized backyard but just looks so junky that you can't get out there and enjoy it. We have quite a few plans for the yard to make it more enjoyable.
- Re-cover the back patio and screen it all in. Couple of ceiling fans, a table and a few chairs and it will be a really nice place to enjoy a beverage in the morning or evenings.
-Remove all the junk.
- Kill the winter rye (I think that's what it is) and let the Bermuda grass fully take control.
-Possibly take the old sand box that my granddad made me when I was a kid and convert it into a nice little planter.
-Put up another small, covered area to put the grill under and so Lucy (our 10 yo black lab) can have a place to get out of the weather.

You may be wondering ... Why so much junk ? Well ... I'm lazy and it's HOT during the summer in North Texas ... and ... did I mention I'm lazy ? ;)
We had a storm back in June '07 that caused some damage around the house. (89 MPH winds at the TV station and the AFB reported 94MPH) Some trees are not good at standing up thru those winds. Here's some shots of the damage.
Yes ... That the meter. The mast has been forcefully removed from the top of it.
OF course, due to my wonderful tree guys, :( when they cut the tree if fell thru the fence and went straight thru the boards and the 3 2x4s.
AND ... Let's not forget ...we had another tree fall due to winds about 3 weeks earlier.
That brings us to today ... Here's a few shots of the current backyard.
Sorry ... Pool has to stay ... Lucy loves playing and cooling off in it.
So now comes the fun part ....Hopefully I'll remember this is here and take some pics along the way... Until next time ....
